An Urdu word for "home"
Ghar.
An Urdu word for “home”.
A place where she could go,
To feel safe and warm.
Or so she thought…
BANG!
“Why won’t you listen to me!”
Echoes of screams over the phone.
A place she thought she would be safe.
Now a broken palace left to haunt the souls that lie awake.
The tremble of her hands as they rise to protect, The tears that flow through her aching soul. All soo loud, yet soo low, Scared the bruises will show.
Hiding in the shadows of what once was a beautiful home, Lies awake a daughter who fears to be known. Known to the outside world as a fierce and brave girl, but to him, she dared not to utter a word.
Silence was her power, Power is her weakness. She knows nothing that lies ahead, Yet she takes a blind step. Trusting herself.
“It’s okay to let go” she tells herself.
She walks a mile. Then two. Then three. She faces her fear of being seen.
She finds peace. Hidden amongst the stars she finds her moon, The one she once wished to go to soon. She now stands with power, Not letting another soul rip away her crown.
