To My Younger Self
The image starts with text that reads: “To my younger self, If you had told me a few years ago that I would be confident and happy in my own skin, I wouldn’t have believed you. I know that social media can have its challenges, but honestly, I have found comfort in being part of this community. I wanted to share with you three things that social media has taught me over the years and helped shape who we are today. We have found a great community involving influencers who have shared tips and tricks about self-care and wellness, these are the three things that have taught us the most: Balanced eating videos – I know that you use to struggle with understanding what was deemed healthy and what was not, but I am so happy to tell you that you don’t carry that guilt anymore. Through social media you have found lots of videos on balanced eating, and this has helped you to expand on your cooking skills and enjoy your food without worrying about calories and health Activity recommendations – initially it was quite overwhelming moving to a new city for university, away from family and friends, but you explored different videos on social media about activities and cafes to try which really helped with making friends and having fun – it is so important to find the balance between studying and having a good social life, something that these videos have been essential for Fitness content – there is a whole community on social media dedicated to trying to better their physical health; this really helped you to find motivation to work out and gave you knew routines to try which boosted your enjoyment at the gym. You’ll be so happy you hear that there is such a diverse group of people on each platform, from different ethnic backgrounds and with different body shapes and sizes – this has really helped grow your body confidence and self-love I hope that you feel happy knowing how much help and comfort you found through these communities on social media, you wouldn’t be the person you are today without it. I thought it would be fun to show you some of my favourite social media recommendations in each of these categories. Hopefully you can try at least one out this week and let me know how you find them!.” The first image shows a delicious-looking avocado toast with the caption “This week I went to a new café for brunch with a friend from university, it was so good!! You should go to a café this week and show me what you get (strawberry iced matcha has become our favourite)” The second image shows the recipe for ‘Tuscan Marry Me Chickpeas’ with the caption “I also tried a new recipe this week. It was packed with fibre and nutrients; plus, it tasted so good. The flavours were so comforting to have, especially in winter. Why don’t you give it a go, it’s easier than you think!” The final image shows an empty gym, with the caption “You’ll be shocked to hear that I tried out a new yoga class at the gym this week with my friends. I know that last time we tried it years ago it wasn’t our thing, but I actually really enjoyed it and will definitely go again!”
